Senior Paralegal - Technical Recoveries - Leeds, Newcastle or Birmingham - Hybrid
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Paralegal to join our Technical Recoveries Team. In this role, you will manage a caseload of debt recovery matters on behalf of one or more DWF Clients, from scoping matters referred into the Technical Team to achieving time-critical deliverables, all while adhering to budget constraints and legal parameters.
Responsibilities
1. Provide ad hoc advice and guidance to Clients and colleagues on non-referred matters.
2. Brief Counsel for complex matters.
3. Review matters at the point of referral, providing specific and proportionate scopes divisible into discrete tasks.
4. Handle various legal matters including pre-action disputes, drafting legal documents, negotiating settlements, making court applications, and preparing for hearings/trials.
5. Communicate scopes to Clients and keep them informed of progress throughout.
6. Interact with third parties, including Litigants In Person, legal representatives, and Courts.
7. Take care and conduct of legal matters, progressing them through to conclusion.
8. Utilize the Liberate case management system effectively.
9. Provide line management and limited supervisory responsibility for junior team members.
10. Report regularly to the Specialist Manager on matters under your responsibility.
What will help you succeed in this role?
Essential:
1. Demonstrable experience handling debt recovery cases.
2. Experience handling more complex claims e.g. Fast Track/Intermediate.
3. Experience managing claims from receipt of claim form or defence through to trial.
Desirable:
1. Strong organisational skills, capable of managing and prioritizing a caseload of under 100 cases.
2. Strategic thinking and decisive, action-focused decision-making abilities.
3. Proficiency in ICT, including intermediate keyboard skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office programs.
4. Excellent problem-solving skills, legal research abilities, and technical competencies.
5. Interpersonal skills for effective collaboration within a diverse team and across other business units.
6. Demonstrate integrity, engage in open debate, and foster a culture of sharing best practices and reporting issues without fear.
7. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, for correspondence via email, letters, telephone, and video conferences.
