Our Duty Manager trainee programme will provide you with all the skills and knowledge you will need to become a Duty Manager within a wet and dry leisure centre. At the end of the programme, you will acquire all the qualifications required to become a successful leisure centre manager, including: A National Pool Lifeguard Qualification (NPLQ) A Level 3 Certificate in Leisure Management First aid at work qualification Pool Plant Operator Qualification Residents who meet the qualifications and match the job description will not be required to upskill or join the training programme. Subject to UK Shared Prosperity Fund eligibility, training costs will be covered for residents who are currently unemployed. To be successful, candidates will Have the ability to swim Be comfortable working in wet side operations within the leisure sector Have previous supervisory experience / people management skills Have the ability to communicate clearly, influence and motivate team members Have experience of working within Health & Safety critical environment with the ability to understand and implement legislation in the operation environment is essential Qualifications required Ideally hold or have the ability to work towards a National Pool Lifeguard Qualification (NPLQ) Ideally hold or have the ability to work towards a First Aid at Work Qualification Ideally hold or have the ability to work towards a Pool Plant Operator Qualification Ideally hold or have the ability to work towards a Level 3 Certificate in Leisure Management More about the Training and Qualifications NPLQ – Lifeguarding Qualification Course Overview: The internationally recognised Royal Lifesaving Society (RLSS UK) National Pool Lifeguard Qualification (NPLQ) is not only a qualification that will train you to become a Pool Lifeguard but can also be a stepping stone into a career within the leisure industry. In order to perform lifeguard duties, candidates must be physically fit, have good vision and hearing, be mentally alert and self-disciplined. The course requires a minimum of 36 hours training and requires 100% attendance. The NPLQ certificate is valid for 2 years from the date of successful completion of the course. Topics Covered: The NPLQ covers all elements of Pool Rescue Techniques, Lifeguard Theory, First Aid and CPR. The course is physically demanding and will include swimming to set times, lifting casualties and diving to the deepest part of the pool. As a Duty Manager you will be a key holder for the building and be responsible for opening and closing the site whilst on key holder shifts. You will be responsible for the day-to-day running of wet and dry side operations, including health and safety across the site, managing a small team, coordinating timetables and rotas and organising specialist events. You will ensure all operations flow smoothly and help meet the organisation goals. Our sites are open from 6am - 10pm so flexibility with working hours is required. Key responsibilities include: Opening and closing of site and being first point of contact for any queries whilst on duty. Supervise and coordinate regular maintenance and cleaning of the facility. Responsible for the daily, weekly, and monthly pool plant operations, pool hygiene, tasks and safety checks. Deal with any H&S incidents, accidents, safeguarding concerns & report on the management system. Provide clear leadership with regards to compliance with all health and safety procedures and requirements, fixing or escalating issues as appropriate. Line management, coaching and developing responsibilities of a team of front line staff. Coordination of events and activities such as gala’s and holiday camps. Continuously review sites equipment, programmes and activities, developing and improving as required. Provide first class customer service to all users of the facility. Establish and maintain excellent relationships with our customers and potential customers, handling, and escalating complaints where appropriate.
