£39,513 - £43,693 pro rata per year. Permanent and Part time (29.6 hours/week). We currently have a vacancy for a BIA to work 4 days a week within our DoLS team. You will be working with a small team of other BIA's and supported by Senior Practitioners, a Team Leader, and business support staff.
This is an excellent opportunity to gather more experience and skills in mental capacity and best interests. You will gain a good understanding of the Mental Capacity Act and Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards which can only enhance your social work practice.
The post holder will be responsible for carrying out Best Interest Assessments as defined in regulations and explained within the Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards Code of Practice. The post holder will be expected to contribute to development work within the DoLS Team and to provide expertise in Mental Capacity law.
The role will include:
* Carrying out face-to-face assessments with people whom an application for a Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards has been made.
* Managing Urgent DoLS applications within your weekly allocations.
* Consulting with families, friends, and a range of other professionals to gather information for your assessments.
* Producing written reports to a high standard.
* Working efficiently to ensure your reports are submitted within legal timescales.
