MAIN FUNCTION
The candidate will have a range of responsibilities focused around assisting with the smooth operation of the company’s logistics & warehousing functions. This will include responsibility for the goods inward and outward process, liaising with suppliers to ensure timely receipt of goods ordered, stock control & warehousing duties, and updating of all relevant systems. The candidate will also be responsible for ensuring the company maintains adequate stock levels of key items required to fulfil customer orders and run the business. They will need to maintain excellent communication with suppliers and internal stakeholders, as well as being prepared to deal with simple queries, and assist with and escalate more complex issues.
Finally, the candidate will also be responsible for ensuring the smooth running of the company’s HQ in Lancaster and its vehicle fleet, including ordering key items and vehicle checks.
MAIN DUTIES
* Tracking of goods on hand for fulfilment of customer orders
* Maintaining an awareness of what goods are on hand or expected
* Ensuring that all items for the same job are kept together
* Keeping Projects & Engineering colleagues informed of the status & location of goods related to the jobs they have responsibility for
* Ensuring that goods for fulfilment are clearly identifiable & distinct from stock on hand and spares
* Physically moving goods into/around/out of the storeroom as necessary to complete the above tasks
* Maintenance of a well-ordered warehousing facility, identifying & suggesting improvements as appropriate
* Completion of basic general maintenance tasks around TNP premises and arranging for tradespeople to deal with more complex issues as appropriate
* Processing of goods inward and updating of all relevant systems
* Processing, dispatch and tracking of goods outward and updating of all relevant systems
* Completing of all moving and handling tasks in a safe manner in accordance with statutory requirements & company policy
* Day-to-day care of TNP vehicle fleet, including completing scheduled checks, booking routine cleaning & maintenance, and arranging repairs as necessary, as well as transporting vehicles to/from the garage as needed
* Assisting with regular stock checks
* Tracking of supplier shipments to TNP HQ & direct to customer premises and updating of all relevant systems
* Acting as a supply chain contact for TNP suppliers, answering telephone & email enquiries and contacting suppliers as required
* Day-to-day support of internal and external projects including liaising with other parties as necessary
* Such other duties appropriate to the grade as may be directed by the Board of TNP or its nominated representatives
QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS
* Experience of general day to day office administration or logistics tasks
* Full UK driver’s licence
* Experience of using a range of standard office ICT applications to include Microsoft Word & Excel, with the ability to learn new software applications. Experience of Accounting Software would be an advantage but is not essential as any required training will be provided
* Ability to work both independently and as part of a team, with minimum day-to-day supervision
* Strong communication skills in writing, over the phone and in person
* Ability to maintain high levels of professional conduct & to cooperatively engage in tasks set
* Ability to exercise initiative and to suggest, through line managers, improvements to services, systems & processes
