Quantity Surveying Manager (Junior/Senior) - Infrastructure / Construction / EV - Durham - Hybrid - £45k-£65k (plus car allowance, bonus & benefits)
Location: Durham (Office-based with travel for site measurements; one day per week remote)
Salary: £45,000 - £65,000 per annum (dependent on experience and seniority)
About Us: My client is a leading company specialising in Utilities (Power/Telecoms), Civil Engineering, and Infrastructure projects across the UK and Ireland.
Role Overview: They are seeking a dedicated Quantity Surveying (QS) Manager to join the team in Durham. This role involves overseeing the commercial aspects of multiple EV charging infrastructure projects, ensuring compliance with various contract forms, and managing project costs effectively. The ideal candidate will have substantial experience in quantity surveying, with a strong understanding of NEC, JCT, and FIDIC contracts. Experience in EV charging infrastructure is highly desirable.
Key Responsibilities:
* Oversee and manage all commercial activities related to ongoing EV charging infrastructure projects.
* Ensure compliance with NEC, JCT, and FIDIC contract requirements, including preparation and management of contract documents.
* Develop cost estimates, budgets, and detailed cost plans for projects.
* Lead, mentor, and provide guidance to junior quantity surveyors and support staff.
* Conduct site visits for measurements and assessments as required.
* Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and stakeholders to gather necessary information for accurate cost planning and control.
* Identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies to ensure project milestones are achieved within budget.
* Prepare regular progress reports, including cost analysis and recommendations, addressing any issues to ensure timely project completion.
* Liaise with clients and subcontractors to ensure clear communication and understanding of project financials and deliverables.
* Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry best practices and emerging technologies related to quantity surveying and infrastructure development.
Qualifications and Experience:
* Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor or Senior Quantity Surveyor within the utilities, civil engineering, or infrastructure sectors.
* In-depth knowledge and experience with NEC, JCT, and FIDIC contracts.
* Experience in EV charging infrastructure projects is highly desirable.
* Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams and stakeholders.
* Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a keen attention to detail.
* Relevant qualifications in quantity surveying, contract management, or a related field are desirable.
* Willingness to travel for site measurements and assessments as required.
