Salary: £25,611 - £46,263 pro rata, per annum (Lecturer Scale)
We are excited to share that are currently recruiting for a Lecturer in English (Functional Skills) to join our dedicated team on a full-time, fixed term contract until June 2026.
Responsibilities
You will contribute to the apprenticeship on-boarding process by ensuring thorough English initial assessments are carried out to accurately identify apprentice’s starting point. Working collaboratively with learners, you will successfully deliver English Functional Skills and design learning plans to suit individual needs, enable them to achieve their qualifications as well as apply their learning in the workplace.
You will ensure the diagnostic assessments are completed for all learners and utilise materials to design Functional Skills programmes covering areas needed of development.
As part of this role, you will ensure sound working knowledge of apprenticeship funding rules in relation to apprenticeship delivery and Functional Skills compliance, whilst pro-actively working towards the Ofsted EIF. You will support quality improvement plans by collaborating with the vocational team to embed English across the apprenticeship provision.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
The ideal candidate will have a solid background in functional skills, a commitment to student development, and a passion for teaching. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential, along with the ability to inspire and motivate students from diverse backgrounds.
To be successful you will have a recognised teaching qualification, (L5 or above) and experience of working within English at Level 2 and Study Skills at Level 3 within Further Education across a wide range of vocational areas. You will be inspirational in your teaching and demonstrate the ability to motivate our learners to achieve their targets and career ambitions.
