Role
Systech is seeking to hire hardworking and ambitious construction Paralegals. We want candidates with a minimum of 2 years of relevant post graduate experience, preferably within our sector. Applicants should have an interest in construction and possess a desire to be involved in small and large infrastructure and construction projects across the globe.
Systech is an agile and responsive business, and therefore these roles suit individuals who are prepared to travel and value international experience. You will need to be hardworking and an effective manager of one’s time, balancing the demands of your role with progressing towards becoming a qualified solicitor. This is a client facing role, and you must therefore be able to demonstrate an ability to work effectively and collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders.
Responsibilities:
1. Working on live construction projects, providing support to our teams involved in the preparation and defence of construction claims and major dispute resolution.
2. Reviewing and appraising risks in contracts on major projects.
3. Making bespoke amendments to standard contracts.
4. Helping to prepare sub-contractor agreements.
5. Drafting correspondence, including counter-claim letters.
6. Facilitating negotiations in meetings, including translations.
7. Assisting in the preparation of independent, third-party reports.
8. Discovery.
9. General administration support.
Individual:
1. Have obtained an SRA qualifying law degree in the UK (2.1 and above).
2. Experience as a Construction Paralegal.
3. An understanding of construction law.
4. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
5. Strong research and analytical skills.
6. Hardworking and diligent.
7. Flexible and mobile.
8. Proficient in using legal software and other related IT applications.
