I am looking for a Mechanical Engineer to join my client based in Bristol which develops assistive technology designed to empower individuals with speech and communication difficulties.
What you will be doing?
As a Mechanical Engineer, you’ll play a key role in delivering life-changing medical devices. Working with a multidisciplinary team of engineers, designers, and product managers, you’ll design and develop medical-grade tablet computers and accessories. This will include:
* Work on complex CAD assemblies and produce BS8888-standard design drawings.
* Design for manufacturing across various methods (injection moulding, CNC, 3D printing, etc.).
* Qualify suppliers and processes, and conduct capability studies and PFMEAs.
* Select and specify components, verify product performance, and ensure international compliance.
* Collaborate with external vendors and partners, both in the UK and internationally.
* Take part in product testing, including drop, shock, and accelerated life testing.
* Travel as needed to work hands-on with customers and suppliers.
What they are looking for?
They are looking for someone with the below skillset:
* A degree in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent).
* At least 2 years in product development (5+ preferred).
* Strong CAD skills (Solidworks ideal).
* Full lifecycle experience from concept to production.
* A high-level understanding of mechanical design for manufacturing.
* Knowledge of BS8888 or similar technical documentation standards.
* An eye for detail and a positive, proactive attitude.
* Bonus points if you have experience with assistive technology, FEA simulation, or advanced GD&T and tolerance stacking.
