Health Care Assistant - Tissue Viability and Lymphoedema Community

Job overview
We are seeking an enthusiastic and organised individual with good people skills to join the Oldham Community Tissue Viability and Lymphoedema Service, which delivers health care to patients with complex wound care needs and provides management and guidance to individuals who have chronic oedema.
Unfortunately, this role does not meet the criteria required to qualify for sponsorship.
Main duties of the job
* Assist specialist nurses to deliver care in clinic setting or within patients' own homes.
* Provide basic wound care.
* Support with patient and carer education.
* Undertake routine administration tasks including ordering of stock, keeping work environment and stock room tidy, follow up referrals, and contacting patients regarding scheduled appointments to reduce DNA rates.
* Ordering and checking of specialist pressure relieving mattresses and accessories.
* Monitor NPWT usage requesting, activating, and cancelling therapy units as required.
* Support the team with routine day-to-day tasks, including actioning messages, team, and own diary management.
* Undertake patient observations and recognise the need for escalation as indicated.

Person specification
Qualifications
* NVQ Level 3 in Healthcare or a Level 3 Senior Healthcare Support Worker Apprenticeship - or equivalent experience.
* Level 1 Literacy and Numeracy (GCSE English and Maths Grade D-G).
* Care Certificate.
Knowledge, Training & Experience
* Experience of working as a Care Support Worker or equivalent in a Health or Social care setting.
* Experience of working within a team.
* Demonstrates an interest or previous experience in supporting other health care staff and learners.
* Commitment to undertaking continuous professional development (CPD).
Skills & Abilities
* Good communication (written and verbal skills).
* Basic IT skills.
* Good organisational skills.
* Ability to travel to different geographical locations across the Trust footprint in line with service needs.
* Full UK driving license with willingness to use own car for work purposes.
