Job summary The Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Service Line is part of the Surgical Care Group. The Service Line Director for Plastic Surgery is supported by a Service Line Manager and a deputy and is accountable through the Care Group to the Executive Management Team. The post holder is required to work flexibly to ensure that service requirements are provided and to ensure that both the Service aims and objectives are met. The job plan will be a 10 PA contract which will include dedicated SPA time. There is potential for the post to increase to 12 PAs with optional DC sessions. Main duties of the job The Unit provides a tertiary service for Cornwall, the Isles of Scilly, Plymouth District and South & West Devon; a population of 1.2 million. The Unit covers the whole spectrum of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery except for craniofacial surgery and cleft surgery. Sarcoma surgery and Reconstruction Head and Neck Reconstruction Hand Surgery Breast Reconstruction Skin Cancer Surgery Paediatric Plastic Surgery Thoracic Reconstruction Perineal Reconstruction Each consultant will in addition be expected to have training and experience in all aspects of general plastic and reconstructive surgery which includes acute management of burns, hand trauma and microvascular surgery so that a comprehensive consultant led plastic surgery trauma service can be provided to the region and in support of the Trusts strategic achievements.
