The role:
Simmons and Simmons are looking to expand our Security Architecture capabilities by bringing in an additional experienced Information Security Architect to be based in our Bristol office. The primary objective for the post holder is to work alongside our architects, IT and business stakeholders on the design and implementation of security controls, protecting systems and services across the Firm.
What will you do:
* Analysis. Able to analyse real problems and consider all relevant information. Application of appropriate rigour to ensure a full solution is designed and achieves the desired business outcomes.
* Communication skills. Able to effectively translate and accurately communicate security and risk implications across technical and non-technical stakeholders, and able to respond to challenge. You can manage stakeholders' expectations and be flexible and pragmatic, adapting to stakeholders' reactions to reach consensus.
* Design secure systems. You can design and review system architectures through the application of patterns and principles.
* Enabling and informing risk-based decisions. Able to work with risk owners to advise and give feedback. You can advise on pragmatic risk mitigation options whilst considering business requirements, user experience and resource and investment overheads.
* Research and innovation. You can advise on developments on security properties in technology. You can identify new technologies and design the use of these in the business context.
* Specific security technology and understanding. You have knowledge of system architectures. You can understand and articulate the impact of vulnerabilities on existing and future designs and systems and can articulate a response. You have broad knowledge of a range of systems but may specialise in one.
* Understanding security implications of transformation. You can interpret and apply understanding of policy and process, business architecture, and legal and political implications in order to assist the development of technical solutions or controls.
What we are looking for:
* Knowledge of a range of enterprise IT application technologies, including a demonstrated track record in securing infrastructure applications such: The Microsoft Application Stack such as Exchange 365; Active Directory; AoVPN ; Azure Remote Access Services, Azure Backup and Azure site recovery
* Experience of securing interdependent services and shared application enablers (such as Active Directory), with a proven ability to identify and manage the dependencies between these components and the end user services they support
* Knowledge of data centre technologies, such as virtualisation (VMWare) V2V and experience of working with third party IaaS/private cloud providers would be advantageous
* 5-10 years' experience in information security, architecture and IT risk management
* Hands on self-starter with attention to detail with a collaborative and pragmatic approach
* Comfortable with occasional working under pressure and to tight deadlines
* Solution oriented
* Information security certifications may be advantageous i.e. CISSP, CISM
* Professional architecture qualifications are desirable (e.g. TOGAF, Zachman, SABSA)
* An understanding of the ITIL framework is desirable
