This is an exciting and unique opportunity to work alongside adults, social workers, and children in care in a variety of ways! Do you have skills in working with systems, in considering models of developmental trauma, attachment, and therapeutic parenting? We are looking for 2 passionate individuals who love to work systemically and reflectively with adults who care for children in Suffolk residential homes and their families and networks around them.
We are splitting a full-time 8A post into two part-time opportunities (18.75 hours per week, 0.5 WTE) where it is hoped you would overlap on Tuesdays and both be available to run training and reflective practice groups as well as support each other in the role and developments within the Children's Homes.
Post 1: 8A Clinical Psychologist 18.75 hours per week (0.5 WTE) which must include Tuesday. Covering Waveney and North Suffolk.
Post 2: 8A Clinical Psychologist 18.75 hours per week (0.5 WTE) which must include Tuesday. Covering East to West Central Suffolk.
(If you are interested in a full-time position across the region, this is also possible so please do get in touch).
The geographical range covered by the two posts is likely to be split into North Suffolk / Waveney and the Central Belt of Suffolk (east to west). These posts do not involve direct therapeutic work with children in care; it is the adults/staff around them who will be your focus.
Main duties of the job
Supporting Suffolk's Children's Homes: The work within Suffolk County Council's Children's Homes will involve a focus on embedding a trauma and psychologically informed culture in the homes across Suffolk. The success of the pilot in 2021 has contributed to a permanent funding agreement for the Clinical Psychology role and the continued passion and support from colleagues in the homes and SCC for the post. The role involves an exciting opportunity to embed a trauma and psychologically informed culture across multi-layers of the system such as facilitating reflective practice groups, training and formulation sessions for staff, and working with the management team to review and embed practice developments such as the assessment, formulation, and support of young people's behavioural, emotional, safety, and relational needs.
