The Clinical Skills Facilitator will be supporting work by the Learning & Development Team to provide clinical education and practical skills training to staff working within the Inpatient Unit and Community. The post holder will work assist in enabling the professional development, confidence and competence of the clinical workforce.
Main duties of the job
Working collaboratively across clinical services, assisting in the development of a clinically skilled workforce, resulting in the delivery of effective, high quality safe patient centred care.Reporting to and supporting the PDL the planning, organisation, delivery and evaluation of staff skill development and support across clinical nursing and care teams.Working as part of Learning & Development Department to assist in facilitating clinical skills related training, and practice development within St Wilfrid's Hospice.To help create and maintain an environment which facilitates and promotes learning, personal / professional development and clinical competence amongst clinical staff (both registered and unregistered).

Person Specification
Qualifications
* Registered Nurse, educated to degree level
* Evidence of continued professional development
* Demonstrate an understanding of the role as described in the job description
* Excellent, up to date clinical skills
* Mentorship or Practice Assessor certification
* Post-registration education in palliative and end of life care
* Teaching/ Training skills course or qualification - or willing to undertake this
Experience
* Enthusiasm and experience in teaching and training
* Proven experience in palliative and end of life care
* Ability to reflect and recognise own needs and triggers for stress
* Ability to care for patients at end of life without supervision
* Effective interpersonal, organisational and teamwork skills
* Ability to learn and develop new skills and abilities
* Ability to teach, motivate and supervise staff
* Ability to work under own initiative
* Acts as a positive role model, able to demonstrate good assertiveness, delegation and influencing skills
* Able to demonstrate the hospice values
* Good understanding of relevant government directives, reports and current issues
