Job Summary & Purpose The Liaison Nurse Lead will provide support and guidance to the non / clinical team, and to ensure safe and effective service delivery within PUK. To provide clinical support to the Patient Services Team, Consultant Psychiatrists, Prescribers and any other team member who may raise a clinical query in relation to a client who may be presenting with acute mental health difficulties. Role Outline Developing and leading on the Standard Operation Procedures for the team, to improve the safety and effectiveness of service delivery, and to reinforce best practice. Leading on the management/ supervision of clinical staff, to ensure that all quality standards are met. Caldicott principles – ensuring that the personal information of PUK’s service users is used legally, ethically and appropriately and that confidentiality is maintained. Acting as the liaison between the clinical and non-clinical staff within P-UK Reviewing new Liaison Nurses/ Associate Practitioners applications and interviewing candidates. Supporting/developing others and provide clinical supervision to team members as required. To ensure new starters within the team receive an appropriate induction to P-UK/Liaison Team. To deal with any concerns / competency issues that arise within the team. To develop a quality and assurance model for the Liaison Nurse Team. Keep up to date with own CPD and ensure CPD compliance in team. To liaise with the Patient Experience Team with regards to complaints/potential complaints. Working in a collaborative manner across teams within P-UK to ensure the delivery of a high quality, seamless service through effective communication skills. Provide clinical advice, based on latest empirical evidence and compliant with P-UK policies and procedures, directly to patients and team members. Escalate any significant concerns about patient presentation, risks, safeguarding concerns to Safeguarding Lead. Record patient contacts accurately and contemporaneously in the electronic clinical record. Work collaboratively with Registered and Non-Registered Clinicians, Psychiatrists and other Health Professionals and staff within P-UK Assist P-UK to continue to develop working relationships with the relevant NHS agencies and other Care Providers. Implement excellent standards of patient care using evidence based clinical interventions, making clinical decisions in collaboration with our colleagues. Escalate clinical risks/concerns as per P-UK Escalation Policy in a timely manner. Place an emphasis on informed choice within a patient partnership approach; ensuring full information is given to the patient regarding treatment/support options following NICE guidelines. Provide support, information, and advice to patients and, where appropriate, with client consent, to their families/carers. Develop and maintain effective working relationships within P-UK, NHS services and non-statutory services to ensure a seamless, coordinated service to patients and users of P-UK. Uphold, support and promote the values, aims and vision of P-UK, acting with integrity and honesty and demonstrating high standards of personal conduct at all times. Plan own workload to ensure that tasks are met. Prioritise workload with consideration to issues arising and responding to shifting priorities appropriately. Actively participate in regular supervision with line manager and the PUK PDR process for maintaining and developing personal skills and meeting agreed objectives. The post holder will attend online training as relevant to the post including mandatory training courses i.e. Information Governance, safeguarding, Health and Safety courses etc. Person Specification Essential Areas: You will be an experienced Registered Mental Health Nurse (RMN) with a current valid NMC registration Maintain all professional registrations that allow continuation of Registered Nurse practice requirements. You will have good knowledge of the Mental Health Act 1983 and understand latest nursing practices Experience working with people with mental illness Experience working in acute mental health settings Above all, you will be compassionate, resilient and dedicated to empowering and support our patients Access regular professional and clinical supervision, as made available within Psychiatry-UK. Strong administration skills with proven experience. Strong Microsoft Office skills including Excel, Word and PowerPoint. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work autonomously and remain calm under pressure. Ability to accurately follow instructions, but also use initiative. Meticulous attention to detail.
