Your new role
As Quantity Surveyor, you will support with the development, implementation and management of all commercial activities and controls, taking ownership for the implementation of the group commercial strategy for the business unit you are assigned to. Ultimately, helping to maximise the profitability of the business unit whilst ensuring the Ipsum values are upheld (Safety, Service & Specialist).
Principle Accountabilities include:
10. Manage contract/project performance including CVR reviews.
11. Review contracts and support with mitigating risk.
12. Report on and challenge performance for project cashflows and profitability.
13. Subcontractor management.
14. Preparation and review of subcontract documents and assessment of quotations for onboarding.
15. Manage and track project changes, variations and/or notices
16. Assess and value variations and compensation events
17. Support the Commercial Manager with adhoc projects and continuous improvement of business processes
18. Prepare and submit interim valuations and payment applications to clients, along with the agreement of final accounts
19. Attend risk review, progress and commercial meetings on-site with the Client
20. Be actively involved with tenders and pricing
21. Support the operational team in daily commercial and contractual aspects
About you
Essential qualifications/ skills/ experience
22. Bachelors or masters degree or equivalent qualification.
23. Demonstrable experience within a similar commercial or financial role
24. Experience of operating in a commercial, multi-divisional organisation
25. Up to date knowledge of contractual law and commercial practice
26. Experience of working with Schedule of Rates contracts and other measurement techniques
27. Knowledge of measured terms contracts (MTC) contracts and the property services agency (PSA) schedule of rates, preferably with experience of the MOD environment
28. A commitment to drive outstanding Health, Safety and Environmental performance
29. A commitment to delivering outstanding levels of service every day
30. A constant desire to truly add value, improvement and innovation
31. Demonstrable track record of commercial and financial contract management, to an appropriate level
32. Can quickly identify changes and potential problems in contracts and performance
33. Ability to challenge the business at all levels to ensure performance remains on target
34. Able to advise colleagues on commercial processes
35. Will pursue high standards, recognise improvement opportunities, and learn from experience
36. Able to undertake logical and methodical interrogation of information, data, legal sources and trends, keep accurate records and an audit trails
37. Must have a solid understanding and be confident in using Microsoft Packages, including but not limited to Microsoft Excel
Desirable qualifications/ skills/ experience
38. Previous experience of working within the Utilities industry
39. Professional membership of a relevant body ICM, RICS, ACCA)
40. NEC experience
