Lead Maintenance Engineer
Are you a highly experienced Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer with team lead or supervisory experience? We have a great opportunity for a Lead Maintenance Engineer to join a fast-growing food manufacturing company who operate within a BRC AA Grade factory.
As the Lead Maintenance Engineer, you will work alongside our production teams in both a reactive maintenance and planned maintenance programme to ensure our customers receive our great products on time, every time.
Job Responsibilities
1. Perform hands-on Reactive and Preventative Maintenance, Root Cause Analysis, and ensure ongoing reliability across all processing and packing equipment.
2. Maximise plant uptime by efficiently addressing maintenance issues.
3. Schedule and conduct maintenance activities, including servicing, repairs, and inspections, ensuring high standards and proper documentation, with a hygienic handover back to production.
4. Operate and maintain critical service plants, including boilers, chilled water systems, air supply, and effluent treatment units.
5. Participate in the design, upgrades, installation, and relocation of machinery and equipment.
6. Collaborate with production teams on loss reduction and efficiency improvement initiatives.
7. Carry out risk assessments before starting any maintenance work and ensure all safety measures are implemented to eliminate hazards.
8. Follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and maintain a “clean as you go” culture.
9. Adhere to all company policies and procedures at all times.
Person Specification
To be successful as the Lead Maintenance Engineer, you will need:
1. A recognised engineering accreditation in electrical engineering, with optional mechanical qualifications, including a recognised apprenticeship, ONC, City and Guilds, or 17th/18th Edition IEE certification.
2. Strong mechanical and electrical expertise.
3. Experience in a food production environment is advantageous.
4. Confidence in working independently, alongside skilled operators, and as part of a wider engineering team.
5. Understanding of the importance of accurate record keeping ensuring quality, food safety, and personal safety.
Hours of Work, Pay, and Benefits
Up to £47,000
Shift Pattern: 4 ON / 4 OFF, 11 hours per shift between the core hours of 6am and 7pm, On call overnight one week out of 4.
