We are looking for an experienced Mechanical Engineer with a MEP or HVAC bias, to provide and maintain a high level of building maintenance support to our client. Must have a good working knowledge of Electrical, BMS & Fire systems and capable of plumbing works and a good knowledge of building fabric repairs.
You will be part of a team of multi-skilled technical support staff that ensure that the service provided meets the contractual requirements and complies with all relevant regulations and laws. You will assist in supervising sub-contractors and ensure compliance with all statutory obligations.
Responsibilities:
1. Ensure all aspects of Mechanical and HVAC systems are maintained in optimal working order and in compliance with contractual and legislative requirements.
2. Manage a team of 3 site engineers assuring all engineering tasks across the site are completed in a timely manner.
3. Carry out Planned and Reactive tasks in accordance with KPI's.
4. Supervise subcontractors in accordance with H&S legislation.
5. Join an out of hours on call rota, 2 weeks off, 1 week on.
You should be capable of having a flexible approach to work and working hours (subject to the EU Working Time Directive), with a pro-active and positive approach to work. You will be expected to effectively prioritise your own workload and be aware of the business continuity plan for the part of the business you work in.
You should have strong knowledge and be able to undertake all facets of maintenance and installation requirements as required in the scope of the contract, ensuring that the day-to-day planned preventative maintenance activities of building maintenance is completed in line with contractual obligations. All assets should be maintained in accordance with the O&M Manuals, alongside compliance with all Health & Safety Legislation and Company Policy (fire regulations, COSHH, safe working practices, PPE, PAT testing, etc).
Due to the nature of the client, the successful candidate will need to undergo and pass police vetting before commencing this role.
You will also be expected to ensure all building plant are functional and operational within design parameters, carrying out reactive repairs within agreed response and rectification times. You shall ensure all reactive calls are closed out in line with contractual time scales. You will also be expected to anticipate, diagnose and repair faults, recording accurately on work sheets and computer-based systems, and complete any ADHOC duties assigned. You will be responsible for ensuring equipment and plant/rooms/services are kept clean, safe, and secure.
The ideal candidate will have time-served apprenticeships or an equivalent NVQ qualification in Carpentry and/or Joinery. You should be committed to the delivery of excellent customer service. You should have a good understanding of current Health & Safety legislation and building Statutory Compliance and be able to apply this to the role. It is essential you can carry tools and equipment by hand of up to 20kg, be able to ascend/descend vertical access equipment, work at heights, are available to join a call-out rota, and hold a full UK driving license.
