Process Development Chemist
Huntsman has an opportunity for a Process Development Chemist who will join our Advanced Materials division in Duxford, UK. The Process Development Chemist will oversee managing Process Development mandates (short term sub-projects of longer-term business projects/programmes) in order to support New Product Introduction (NPI) and Manufacturing improvement initiatives with the consideration of Process Safety Management (PSM)/Environment, Health and Safety (EHS) requirement.

Role Responsibilities :
As a Process Development Chemist, you will have the following responsibilities:
EHS/PSM
1. Work toward a zero harms objective.
2. Ensure day to day work is carried out in a safe manner and all near misses, incidents and accidents are reported/Investigated.
3. Implement EHS/PSM procedure (e.g. MoC, JSA, RA, etc..), and support site HAZOP studies.
NPI
4. Implement New Product Introduction, including feasibility study, define and develop process parameters with PSM/EHS review and procedure, cost evaluation/estimation, technical package preparation, etc.
5. Support the business portfolio by a rapid and efficient scale up from lab to production.
Mandate Management
6. Evaluate feasibility of mandates. Define and agree on goal, milestones and resource needs with requester.
7. Execute mandates using state of the art tools and methodologies to deliver safe, practical, economic solutions with no adverse environmental effect. Drive action plan with respect of deadline and available resource (internal, analytics, external upon request).
8. Innovates by developing new tools and methodologies for mandate execution.
9. Propose solutions to improve productivity, EHS, PSM, quality and reliability
10. Act as process owner in projects taking results into production. Work as team member at process/product introduction.
11. Manage knowledge / reporting with respect of quality standards.
12. Be a valuable point of contact for our internal customers like PMs, Marketing, Technology & Innovation, Manufacturing, Quality, Engineering
13. Be an efficient point of contact for all colleagues in global PD organization and work closely together in a team of professionals.
Experience and Competencies:
We are looking for experienced candidates with excellent communication skills and a solution focused approach.
14. PhD / M. S / BSc in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or relevant discipline.
15. At least 3 years in a laboratory, production or process development area, preferably in a multinational (industrial) company.
16. Knowledge in organic chemistry, polymeric chemistry and epoxy chemistry.
17. Knowledge in chemical engineering and understanding of chemical production process.
18. In-depth knowledge in analytical methodology and proficient with statistic principles.
19. Excellent computer skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Lotus Notes).
20. Fluency in English.
21. Project Management skills.
