About the Role:
As a Geography Teacher, you will play a pivotal role in shaping students’ understanding of physical and human geography, fostering their curiosity, and instilling a passion for environmental and global issues. You will be responsible for planning and delivering engaging lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4, with the possibility of teaching Key Stage 5, ensuring students develop the analytical and critical thinking skills necessary for academic success.
Key Responsibilities of the Geography Teacher:
* Deliver high-quality, engaging geography lessons that challenge and inspire students.
* Develop and implement an innovative curriculum that fosters independent learning and intellectual curiosity.
* Use a variety of teaching methodologies, including GIS technology, case studies and fieldwork, to enhance student understanding.
* Monitor and assess student progress, providing targeted support and interventions where necessary.
* Encourage students to engage critically with environmental, social, and economic issues, promoting global awareness and sustainability.
* Collaborate with colleagues to drive curriculum development and share best practices.
* Support students in preparing for GCSE and A-Level geography examinations, ensuring they achieve their full potential.
* Contribute to extra-curricular activities, field trips, and geography-related clubs, enriching students’ learning experiences.
Geography Teacher requirements:
* Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching qualification with a specialism in Geography or a related discipline.
* Proven experience teaching geography at secondary level, with a strong track record of academic success.
* In-depth knowledge of the national curriculum for geography, including assessment frameworks and examination requirements.
* The ability to design and deliver lessons that are engaging, differentiated, and academically rigorous.
* Strong classroom management skills and the ability to foster a positive and inclusive learning environment.
* A commitment to student achievement, well-being, and holistic development.
* Experience in leading or contributing to fieldwork activities and geographical research projects (desirable).
* Have an updated CV (covering the last ten years, barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the update service (or be willing to apply for one).
