We are looking for a reliable, enthusiastic, and professional Cover Supervisor to join a dynamic secondary school team in North Wales. As a Cover Supervisor, you will play a key role in ensuring that students’ learning continues in the absence of their regular class teacher. You will be responsible for managing classrooms, supporting students’ educational needs, and maintaining a positive learning environment. Key Responsibilities: Supervise Classes: Oversee and manage classes in the absence of the regular teacher, ensuring that students remain on task and follow the lesson plan provided by the teacher. Classroom Management: Maintain a positive and productive classroom environment, addressing any behavioral issues in line with school policies and ensuring students’ well-being and safety. Support Student Engagement: Encourage students to stay focused and engaged with the learning activities, providing guidance where necessary to ensure tasks are completed to the best of their ability. Set Expectations: Ensure students understand the work that has been set and the expectations for behavior, providing clear instructions and supporting students in their tasks. Assist with Learning: Provide additional support to students when needed, offering help with tasks and ensuring students with special educational needs (SEN) are included and supported where possible. Record Keeping: Take attendance and report any issues with behavior, attendance, or safeguarding to the appropriate staff members. Team Collaboration: Work with teachers and other staff to ensure that the lesson plans are adhered to and that the needs of the students are met. Supervise Non-Teaching Duties: In addition to supervising lessons, you may be asked to cover other non-teaching duties such as break and lunch supervision or supporting extra-curricular activities. Skills & Qualifications: Experience: Previous experience working with young people, preferably in a school setting, is desirable but not essential. Experience in managing groups of students is a plus. Qualifications: A minimum of GCSEs in English and Maths (or equivalent) is required. Further qualifications in education or teaching assistance (such as Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant) would be advantageous. Skills: Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively manage and engage students. Knowledge: Understanding of classroom management techniques and the ability to follow instructions and lesson plans effectively. Personal Attributes: A calm, professional demeanor with the ability to adapt to different situations. Excellent organizational skills and the ability to stay calm under pressure.
