Northern State University, home to Wolves athletics, sponsors 15 NCAA Division II intercollegiate varsity sports that compete in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (NSIC).
Head Coach Responsibilities:
1. Leading a competitive NCAA Division II men’s basketball program
2. Day to day operations of the program, practice and season planning
3. Recruitment of qualified student-athletes
4. Academic success of student-athletes
5. Game preparation and strategy
6. Game scheduling, travel coordination
7. Equipment purchasing
8. Hiring and managing assistant coaches
9. Organizing camps and clinics in support of the Men’s Basketball program
10. Adherence to NSIC and NCAA rules and regulations
11. Fundraising and general administrative duties
12. Other duties that may be assigned by the Director of Athletics
Qualifications:
* Bachelor’s degree required (Master’s preferred).
* 3-5 years of coaching experience at the collegiate level preferred.
* Strong knowledge of men’s basketball rules, techniques, and strategies.
* Playing experience at the collegiate level preferred.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
* Ability to work effectively in a team environment and collaborate with colleagues, student-athletes, and administrators.
* Commitment to the academic and personal development of student-athletes.
* Willingness to travel and work evenings and weekends as required.
