About the Role
We are recruiting for a dynamic individual to join our IT Digital Online Account (Customer Portal) team as a Release Train Engineer. In this pivotal role reporting into the IT Applications Delivery Manager, you’ll be responsible for leading, planning, and tracking across the IT delivery for our Digital service (Online Account), playing a key role for the Digital Workstream part of an inflight Programme. You will ensure adherence to standards, policies, and agreements are followed. Collaborating with internal and external stakeholders and delivery teams, you’ll deliver successful outcomes aligned with business requirements and IT service standards.
As our Release Train Engineer, you will be responsible for driving, directing, and influencing the delivery of the portfolio of change in line with the Product Owner(s) roadmap. This role will also provide you with the opportunity to deliver continuous improvement, through advising, supporting, and shaping improvements in the delivery processes as you transition the role into the ongoing BAU Delivery team.
You’ll build and manage relationships with senior stakeholders within Group IT and the wider business, working with internal IT delivery teams and 3rd party suppliers ensuring timely and effective reporting, decision making, and problem escalation.
Risk management is a critical part of this role, and you will be responsible for anticipating, monitoring, and managing risks in line with NFU Mutual Risk Policy and NFU Mutual IT Delivery Processes, ensuring visibility and resolution or mitigation of risks to protect the project deliverables and agreed quality standards.
This role will require the need to work closely with a 3rd Party technology partner who has built our Customer Portal, alongside NFUM internal teams whose services and data the portal will consume and feed.
About You
We are seeking a dynamic Release Train Engineer to drive the success of our Agile Release Train. The ideal candidate will be resilient, able to navigate and resolve complex challenges with poise. Exceptional stakeholder engagement skills are essential, as you will collaborate across teams, departments, and leadership to align priorities and ensure seamless delivery. Your ability to influence will foster a culture of collaboration, while your problem-solving expertise will be critical in identifying and overcoming obstacles to ensure the success of our initiatives.
Essential Skills:
1. As an experienced Agile Practitioner, you should have thorough knowledge of agile methodology and frameworks like Scrum and Kanban, including Scrum theory, rules, and practices, ideally within a Scaled Agile setup.
2. Strong experience of leading agile and iterative technology delivery.
3. Experience of leading/driving major/complex IT delivery projects and teams and track record of successful IT project delivery in an IT Service environment.
4. Working knowledge and a strong understanding of the full Secure Software Development Lifecycle.
5. Experience of working with IT 3rd party service providers, ideally within a multivendor environment.
Holding the Certified Scrum Master qualification is an essential requirement. Whilst Prince2 Agile or DSDM project management would be desirable.
