Whitehouse Construction is a leading Civil Engineering SME. We are a family run business directly employing our entire workforce on a PAYE basis, recognising that our people make our business the success it is today.
We work alongside a wide range of blue-chip companies such as Environment Agency, Yorkshire Water, Manchester Airport Group, National Grid Electricity Distribution, and many more, throughout the Midlands region and beyond. We also fully own and operate a UPVC Flood Door Manufacturing Facility.
We are looking for a Fabrication & Testing Engineer to join our Property Flood Resilience Team at Whitehouse Construction. This role is integral to the development and advancement of innovative flood mitigation products.
Roles and Responsibilities:
* Product Development: Develop innovative flood mitigation products and ensure they meet British Standard Institution (BSI) accreditation.
* Research Documentation: Accurately document all phases of research and development for transparency and compliance.
* Material and Process Evaluation: Research, design, and evaluate materials, assemblies, processes, and equipment for product improvement.
* Testing Oversight: Establish and maintain testing procedures for raw materials, in-process products, and finished items.
* SHEQ Management: Ensure adherence to Safety, Health, Environment, and Quality (SHEQ) standards at all times and conduct visitor inductions for R&D Facility tours.
* Team Coordination: Attend weekly R&D meetings, set clear targets, and assign tasks to meet project deadlines.
* Programme Monitoring: Regularly review and update project progress via MS Project to ensure timely delivery of objectives.
* Collaboration: Work closely with the Flood Design Engineer to integrate theoretical modelling techniques with practical product development.
The successful candidate should possess the following:
* Communication & IT Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Suite and excellent communication abilities.
* Market Knowledge: A solid understanding of the Property Flood Resilience (PFR) sector.
* Problem-solving attitude: A proactive, results-oriented mindset with a focus on achieving incremental progress.
* Experience: Hands-on experience in manufacturing or installing doors.
* Practical Skills: A strong aptitude for practical tasks and the ability to work on innovative product solutions.
Salary/hourly rate dependent on experience.
