Job Summary:
Responsible for a defined caseload and act as the named officer in line with the Special Educational Needs (SEN) Code of Practice, statutory responsibilities and the authority's local policies and strategies. Responsible for the management of a designated SEN caseload, ensuring service standards, performance outcomes and statutory requirements are met. Be the primary point of contact for the parents/carers of children and for young people, across the 0 - 25 age range who are undergoing an Education, Health and Care (EHC) Needs Assessment or who have an Education, Health and Care plan.
Key Duties/Accountabilities:
1. To develop and maintain professional, supportive working relationships with key staff in schools and other services in the locality.
2. To ensure all written correspondence and documents are accurate and well structured, reflecting local and national requirements, including SEN legislation, and is sensitive to the perspective of the recipient.
3. To ensure electronic case files are well maintained to agreed quality standards and confidentiality in line with Data Protection Act.
4. To accurately record, input and maintain records on a database as required.
Essential Experience Required:
1. Experience of working and liaising with parents, carers and other agencies in a multi-disciplinary setting.
2. Experience of managing conflicting demands and priorities, working to tight timescales.
3. Experience of producing reports for a variety of complex audiences.
4. Experience of managing complaints and resolving disagreements.
Additional Information:
36 hours per week
Working hours are 08:30am - 17:00pm
