AWS Infrastructure Services (AIS) is responsible for the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. Our team keeps the cloud running, supporting all AWS data centers and ensuring continual access to innovation. We are looking for talented individuals to tackle challenging problems impacting the supply chain.
As a Data Centre Technician, you will be the primary resolver for your support team, gaining troubleshooting skills on various operating systems. You will handle infrastructure issues and create documentation on supported technologies. You will execute small projects independently and assist in larger local projects.
24/7 shift coverage is required, including 12-hour shifts and rotating shifts. Travel may be required up to 10% of the time.
Key Job Responsibilities
1. Problem Solving:
Maintain system reliability by prioritizing and resolving trouble tickets efficiently; act as an escalation point and technical troubleshooter for all systems and problems; deep dive into Linux server issues; troubleshoot XEN service virtualization.
2. Technical:
Troubleshoot technical issues across various platforms; remediate physical layer outages; handle physical power issues on racks; participate in Data Center power and cooling events.
3. Operations:
Meet 24x7 On-Call requirements; install and configure racks of hosts; triage and resolve trouble tickets; act as Data Center point of contact for High Severity issues; perform physical replacement of server and network device parts; interact with third-party vendors.
4. Project Management:
Participate in and deliver on high-impact small to mid-scale projects; contribute to team meetings for metric analysis.
5. Mentoring:
Share knowledge and help educate less technical staff on best practices.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
Willingness to work rotating shifts (day/night) and weekends; ability to wear a pager for communication; comfortable with physical demands such as bending, lifting, and standing for extended periods; experience with computer hardware and networking.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Associate’s degree or higher in an IT-related field; relevant certifications; networking experience with CCNA and/or Network+ certifications; previous Data Centre experience; knowledge of networking protocols and cabling standards; valid driver's license and vehicle for travel between sites.
