Job Title: Business Intelligence Analyst / Systems Developer
JOB SUMMARY
The Business Intelligence Analyst will provide front-line support of business applications, along with extracting, manipulating, analyzing, and delivering data and information. This position requires strong communication, interpersonal, and relationship management skills, focusing on service and support.
This is a rare opportunity to redesign our complete reporting platform from the ground up using a greenfield approach to provide quality, fit-for-purpose BI solutions that enable effective, data-driven business decisions.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The focus of this role will be on providing user application support and data mining and analysis support to users. These assignments will include, but not be limited to:
1. Basic ERP/MRP system support for users
2. Data mining and analysis using SQL and/or other tools as required (e.g. PowerBI and Tableau)
3. Provide user training and/or coaching related to the use of business applications
4. Excel-based, VBA scripted data manipulation and extraction/load design and support
5. Produce and maintain an enterprise-wide data model and related data dictionaries
6. Other duties as assigned
EXPERIENCE
1. Experience working in a similar role in a professional/corporate environment
2. Microsoft BI technology stack experience – T-SQL, SSIS, SSAS, SSRS
3. Basic report writing and dashboard design (SSRS and Crystal Reports)
4. Database development (complex SQL queries, stored procedures, user-defined functions, table design, and performance optimization)
5. Solid understanding of the development to production deployment process
6. Advanced Microsoft Excel including VBA (preferably utilizing class-based development)
7. Basic understanding of ERP and warehouse management transaction lifecycle
8. Solid analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to formulate and communicate recommendations for improvement
9. Excellent interpersonal and verbal/written communication skills, as well as the ability to present and explain technical information in a way that can be fully understood by a non-technical audience
10. Ability to work independently, to deadlines and under pressure, and to prioritize work effectively while managing the expectations for delivery of end users
Desirable
1. Redgate or TFS based source control setup and management
2. Documentation and change management control
3. PowerBI or Tableau dashboard design and management
4. An understanding of ETL process design, delivery, and management
5. Data Warehousing (Kimball) / Master Data Management
6. MCP in Querying SQL Server 2012 (70-461) – with a view to completion of the MCSA: SQL Server 2012/2014 programme
7. Any experience (including non-professional) of data visualization/analysis/statistical modeling/SQL 2016
8. Any experience (including non-professional) of virtualization, disaster recovery, backups, etc.
Additional Requirements
1. Must be willing to travel occasionally (UK only)
2. Must be flexible to work additional hours when required (e.g. out of hours system maintenance)
