Career Readiness Consultant
Kent ISD
Full time, 200 day year-round position
Non-Union Professional, 8 hours per day
BROAD STATEMENT OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
In collaboration with the Director of Career and Technical Education, the Career Readiness Consultant will work with Kent County school districts and PSAs, college partners, businesses, and community organizations to develop and implement systematic college and career readiness programming and will provide an ongoing link between post-secondary partners, industry, and K-12 public education.
SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Act as liaison with local school districts and coordinate the systematic implementation of Career Readiness programming, in collaboration with district staff.
2. Act as liaison with college partners and post-secondary training programs to coordinate the systematic implementation of college readiness programming and supports, as well as direct and articulated college credit opportunities.
3. Work with school counseling staff, teachers, and administrators to communicate and market opportunities.
4. Develop and execute curricular content that supports industry-related K-12 career readiness for constituent districts.
5. Develop and execute professional development programs related to K-12 college and career readiness programming on a local, district, or regional basis, based on county or district needs.
6. Consult and collaborate with personnel of other departments on educational projects to promote the inclusion of learning goals related to college and career readiness (NGSS, State Standards, MTSS, CTE, and Career Clusters).
7. Collect and share data on career development activities in Kent County.
8. Collect and develop resources to support the career planning process for K-12 students, including the implementation of Educational Development Plans (EDPs).
9. Represent Kent ISD College and Career Readiness at workshops, conferences, and meetings to provide information about available programs/services and to network around best practices related to career exploration and career development.
10. Help raise awareness and promote enrollment of students in state-approved CTE programs across the county.
11. Accepts the responsibility for purchasing, inventory, and budget control, as needed.
12. Markets services to local schools, teachers, and community members.
13. Other duties as assigned by the Director of CTE.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
14. Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college/university with an emphasis on curriculum development, instruction, instructional leadership, career technical education, career development, or program evaluation. Master’s degree in an aligned area or credential in career development preferred.
15. Minimum of 3 years combined teaching, career development, and/or educational consulting experience.
16. Prefer (but not required) Michigan teacher’s/counselor’s certificate and/or vocational endorsement.
17. Career Development Facilitator Certification (preferred)
18. Demonstrate abilities to represent Kent ISD in a responsible and effective manner.
19. Excellent communication skills.
20. Demonstrate leadership, initiative, resourcefulness, and flexibility in program development to meet the needs of stakeholders.
21. Reliable, predicable attendance, essential.
22. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, social media, and database management.
23. Demonstrates a strong commitment to equity and inclusion in all practices and position responsibilities. Demonstrates the ability to examine the impact of education inequities in student achievement outcomes as it aligns with race, ethnicity, and socio-economic status.
