THE ROLE
We are currently recruiting for an Assistant Production Accountant to join the Production Accounting team in Bristol on an 8-month contract. This is a hybrid working role with a requirement to spend time with the team at Bridgewater House, Bristol supporting a variety of productions.
The Production Accounting team works within the production community to ensure that production budgets are effectively managed and to protect value by deploying and managing effective cost management, controls, and risk management disciplines.
Key Responsibilities
As the Assistant Production Accountant, you will be responsible for cost management, maintaining and monitoring the purchase orders raised, ensuring all transactions are entered accurately in the appropriate accounting system and resolving any supplier queries.
You will ensure that the BBC's Purchasing/Procurement guidelines are adhered to on the production and will liaise with the Procurement department to progress any out-of-scope purchasing.
The Assistant Production Accountant is responsible for processing expense claims and subsequent coding into the relevant system. You will obtain and retain appropriate supporting documentation of all production transactions and ensure audit trails are maintained.
You will undertake a range of accounting and reporting tasks, recording transactions in the production's books and general ledger, and assisting in the preparation of weekly cost reports. The role will also require you to review production records to monitor the overall cost control of the production and will assist as appropriate in the preparation of filing taxable expense returns.
Where necessary, you will also assist in operating the production bank accounts in any currency, to include the handling and disbursement of cash to cover agreed expenditure through the bank account and will prepare weekly finance and expenditure reports.
WHAT DOES IT TAKE?
ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:
* You will demonstrate practical experience in a TV Production environment, preferably with prior exposure to cost management and general ledger accounting.
* The role requires excellent communication skills and you will possess the ability to interact effectively with non-finance stakeholders across various disciplines from Production staff through to Procurement.
* Excellent attention to detail and a high standard of computer literacy will be expected from all applicants.
DESIRABLE CRITERIA:
* Working towards recognised accounting qualification e.g. ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent

Salary: £28,000-£33,000 depending on relevant skills, knowledge and experience. The expected salary range for this role reflects internal benchmarking and external market insights.
Contract type: Fixed term contract until October 2025
Location: Office Base is Bristol. This is a hybrid role and the successful candidate will balance office working with home working.
