Lancashire & South Cumbria NHS Foundation Trust
International Fellowship in General Adult Psychiatry, Blackpool
We are excited to launch the recruitment to these new roles that have been developed to support experienced psychiatrists who are seeking GMC specialist registration through the portfolio pathway. There are two posts available in General Adult Psychiatry and they will be based at The Harbour, which is an inpatient hospital located in Blackpool.
The posts are fixed term for 3 years and we will be able to provide a Certificate of Sponsorship for those requiring a Skilled Worker Visa to gain Right to Work in the UK. An annual review would take place to assess your progress towards Specialist Registration.
The posts are also eligible for sponsorship for GMC registration subject to meeting minimum criteria set out in the Person Specification. Please check these criteria first prior to submitting an application, as the essential criteria will need to be met fully to be considered for this route.
Main duties of the job
There are four General Adult inpatient wards at The Harbour. You would be based on one of these wards, and your role would include assessment of new patients admitted to the ward, diagnosis and treatment, as well as work to support the discharge of patients. You would be working as part of a multi-disciplinary team, under the supervision of a consultant psychiatrist initially.
You would be supported in working towards Section 12 approval, and once this was achieved, there may be the opportunity to join the Out of Hours On Call rota, for which additional remuneration would be paid.
About us
The salary for this post would be based on the Specialty Doctor payscale, MC75. Your starting salary would be determined by your service history in the UK or overseas.
The role is full time and you would be working 10 Programmed Activities (PAs) each week (equivalent to 40 hours per week). 8 PAs would be dedicated to clinical commitments and the other 2 PAs would be for activities that would support your professional development. We have an excellent reputation for our work supporting international doctors and there are a range of groups that would connect you with other doctors in the Trust who are working towards Specialist Registration.
Our Medical Recruitment and Relationship team will guide you through the recruitment process and provide support if you are relocating to the UK to commence this post. Please note that the Trust does not have any hospital accommodation, but the Relationship Team will be able to provide advice about other options that are available to you.
