Job summary Exciting opportunities are available to join the Endoscopy team at Torbay Hospital. We are looking to recruit Band 5 Registered Nurses. The successful applications will be based in the Endoscopy Unit but with the opportunity to work in different areas of the service, gaining experience and knowledge within the inpatient and outpatient environments caring for patients with gastrointestinal disease. The Endoscopy unit at Torbay Hospital has been recognised nationally for its high standards of patient care, recognised as an exemplar site for Endoscopy care, training and Bowel Cancer Screening. The unit has recently been successful if achieving JAG accreditation and has undergone a recent refurbishment to improve facilities for patients. You will need a mix of skills including the ability to develop effective working relationships and effective time management. Educational courses are delivered by our onsite training team and include GI courses in partnership with the University of Plymouth. Newly qualified nurses are welcome to apply. The Endoscopy Unit delivers an extended service to include evenings and weekends. Main duties of the job To be responsible and accountable for the nursing care of designated named patients from admission to discharge To participate in the care, maintenance and use of endoscopes used in endoscopic and non-endoscopic procedures, providing technical assistance during procedures To co-ordinate the Endoscopy Unit on a regular basis To ensure provision of a high standard of nursing care to patients attending the Endoscopy Unit and Out-Patient clinics, working within agreed policies and procedures To ensure individual assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of patient care from admission to discharge or transfer, producing documented evidence of this in agreed format Correct documentation of patient care using the endoscopy unit care pathway including written discharge and aftercare information for patients To liaise and communicate effectively with relatives, carers and visitors To liaise and communicate effectively with the multidisciplinary team, other hospital departments and outside agencies (e.g. ambulance service, social services, transport etc.) providing patient centred care Engage with student nurses and observers giving encouragement, support and guidance About us The endoscopy unit can provide you with a job that is rewarding, fulfilling and provides you with the flexibility of work life balance All healthcare professionals provide a high standard of nursing care to patients and will give you the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of others attending the department and Out-Patient clinics, working within agreed policies and procedures of the Trust Commitment to the unit, promoting and developing a good working environment with all health care professionals that works within the unit and the rest of the hospital.
