Job summary Ward 3 at The Royal Orthopaedic Hospital Birmingham is a friendly fast paced 24 bedded Orthopaedic Oncology Ward. We treat primarily elective patients from their diagnostic biopsies and scans through to definitive therapeutic surgeries. We also care for patients having arthroplasty surgery's, and revision surgeries The age range of our patients is from 17 to elderly. As a nursing team, we have made vast improvements to develop our nursing processes to ensure that we provide the best in nursing care to our patients. We pride ourselves in ensuring that we consistently challenge ourselves to provide the best care to our patients to ensure they are able to recover from their operation and return home with an improved quality of life. On Ward 3 the focus of nursing and physiotherapy care is streamlining pathways and process and ensuring that patients receive the best care possible. Appropriate escalation of concern. Pain management and medicines administrations according to NMC guidance and local policy. Effective communication with both patients and staff. Co-ordinating care with ward based therapy teams. Facilitating ward based investigations and procedures. Working as part of a multi-disciplinary team to achieve best patient outcomes.
