Applications are invited from suitable candidates to join our team as a Mortuary Support Officer/Mortuary Assistant within the South Yorkshire and Bassetlaw Pathology partnership. The successful applicant will be based at the Mortuary at Doncaster Royal Infirmary.
The successful candidates must be educated to GCSE (or equivalent) English and Maths Grade C/4 or above, have a Level 3 qualification e.g. NVQ, 2 A-Levels, Apprenticeship or equivalent working experience in mortuary or funeral directors. They must have excellent written and verbal communication and be able to work under their own initiative as well as part of a team.
Experience of working in a mortuary setting, handling the deceased and having knowledge of regulatory frameworks is preferred. They will be committed to undertake all on the job training.
Please note eligible candidates will be currently working in one of the 5 South Yorkshire & Bassetlaw partner organisations.
Main duties of the job
* To provide a comprehensive administrative service for the Mortuary.
* To assist with the booking in and release processes both administratively and practically.
* To assist with the cleaning and general housekeeping duties within the Mortuary.
* To assist Mortuary staff with viewing/identification requests.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* GCSE (or equivalent) in Maths and English at level C/4 or above.

Experience
* Ability to follow and work to Standard Operating Procedures and Policy.
* Experience with a range of Mortuary techniques.
* Previous NHS experience or funeral director experience.
Skills and Knowledge
* Keyboard and basic IT skills.
* Have an awareness of Health & Safety issues.
* Effective communication skills, written and oral.
* Evidence of effective time management skills and with a methodical approach.
* Ability to plan and prioritise allocated work.
* Understanding of the need for confidentiality.

Salary: £24,625 to £25,674 a year pro rata for part time staff.
