Sheffield City Council is a great place to work, and we have ambitious plans for our future, we are looking for a payroll manager to share in that ambition and lead the strategic development and delivery of our pay and reward function within the HR service.
You will be responsible for managing a team of dedicated payroll professionals, driving service excellence to ensure we deliver our customer priorities. Acting as an effective coach and mentor you will possess strong customer engagement, management and organisation skills and have experience in developing and implementing systems and procedures to drive business outcomes.
Responsibilities include:
1. Payroll service delivery, performance, service improvement, professional standards, budgets and people management.
2. The management of all payroll activity associated with payroll processing, statutory reporting, financial reconciliation and statutory returns Including pensions.
3. Leadership and management of service development and improvement projects.
4. Development and implementation of pay and reward initiatives.
The successful candidate will have:
5. Excellent technical payroll knowledge.
6. Strong people and project management skills and a proven track record in the delivery of key strategic outcomes.
7. Experience in effective management of teams, and the delivery of high quality professional services.
8. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
9. Excellent communication skills, including the ability to promote understanding to a variety of audiences using a variety of communication channels and media.
