As a Systems Engineering & Verification Engineer you will be the focal point for understanding and developing new engineering products and services. As part of this role, you will be expected to interface across a number of stakeholders both internally and externally within the company to extract and understand technical requirements and work alongside these stakeholders to develop potential solutions which can be used to serve business and customer needs. As part of this new team, you will be exploring and developing new system engineering practices within the company such as the use of Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) to assist in the understanding of potential business and technical architectures and solutions. This role will directly report to the Capability Lead – Systems Engineering and Product Performance. Integrate with and provide systems. engineering coaching or training to engineers from other functions. Facilitate the elicitation, maturation and validation of stakeholder requirements including customer, business, and technical to ensure robust problem and solution space understanding. Establish and maintain an appropriate information structure for the project (Customer, Business, System, Sub-System, and Component) and develop / maintain associated management plans. Represent Rolls-Royce as required on specific customer and partner working groups related to the project. Develop product verification strategies and compliance statements. Deploy and evaluate new SE tools, such as MBSE, on agreed programmes. Ensure project risks (technical, cost, supply chain and timescale) are identified, managed, and escalated in accordance with risk management plan Who we’re looking for: Being a part of Rolls-Royce you’ll know we embrace agility, are bold, pursue collaboration and seek simplicity in everything we do. You will be qualified to degree level in a STEM subject and with experience in a relevant engineering environment (Mechanical, Aeronautical, Electrical or Controls). You will also be a Chartered Engineer or hold an affiliate / associate membership of a relevant professional body, or be working towards Chartered/Incorporated status. A broad understanding of Gas Turbine physical and functional characteristics would be advantageous. Desirable Skills and Experiences: Highly numerate with strong technical, analytical and problem-solving skills Capable of systems level thinking, with knowledge of Systems Engineering tools, techniques and processes Highly driven with excellent communication and presentation skills, and able to contribute effectively in a team environment Demonstrable evidence of collaborative working across different engineering disciplines Experience working in aerospace or highly regulated industry sector Experience in IBM DOORS Experience in using Model-Based Systems Engineering (software) Experience working with (or knowledge of) ARP4754A/ED-79A To work for the Rolls-Royce Defence Business there may be a requirement for an individual to hold a level of National Security Vetting (NSV). If the requirement is identified Rolls-Royce will support the application for NSV if the individual does not currently already have this in place. The professional level and salary of the position will be dependent on the skills and experience of the successful candidate but is anticipated to be SNBG 7-10.
