Mechanical Design Engineer who is proficient in 3D CAD systems (3D Inventor Engineering / Autodesk Inventor preferred), 2D AutoCAD and Vault is required to join our Engineering Department at Redler, based in Stonehouse, Gloucestershire, South West England.
SALARY: £35,000 - £40,000 per annum + Benefits

We have a fantastic new job opportunity within our Engineering Department for a highly organised and methodical Mechanical Design Engineer who is proficient in 3D CAD systems (3D Inventor Engineering / Autodesk Inventor preferred), 2D AutoCAD and Vault.
Working as a Mechanical Design Engineer you will be responsible for the full lifecycle of machine development, from initial concept and design upgrades to providing comprehensive technical support. You will be instrumental in driving innovation, focusing on both new machine designs and enhancements to existing equipment, ensuring optimal functionality and efficiency.
As the Mechanical Design Engineer your responsibilities will extend beyond design, encompassing technical assistance to customers, collaboration with internal teams to streamline production, and resolving technical issues related to commissioning and warranties. You will also play a key role in modernising legacy designs by converting 2D drawings into detailed 3D models, contributing to improved manufacturing processes and reduced lead times.
Furthermore, this position requires a strong focus on delivering clear and accurate design information to facilitate seamless manufacturing and ensure product quality. You will be tasked with conducting site surveys, compiling technical specifications, and providing technical sales support, demonstrating your ability to bridge the gap between engineering and commercial operations. A key objective is to enhance design hour efficiency and minimise manufacturing errors through the provision of precise instructions and innovative design solutions. Your work will directly impact both internal operations and external customer satisfaction, requiring a commitment to continuous improvement and adherence to company policies and procedures.

DUTIES
Your duties as a Mechanical Design Engineer include:
* Design and develop new machines and upgrade existing designs
* Provide technical assistance to internal and external customers
* Support the sales team with engineering and technical expertise
* Resolve non-conformance, commissioning, and warranty issues
* Conduct site surveys and measurements
* Convert 2D legacy drawings into 3D models and information packs
* Collaborate with production, planning, and purchasing to reduce lead times and costs
* Compile technical specifications using various IT systems
* Offer tele-sales and technical sales support as needed
* Ensure compliance with all company policies and procedures
* Innovate to add internal and external benefits
* Improve design hour efficiency
* Provide clear instructions to the manufacturing facility to minimise errors
KEY AREAS
* Engineering Design: Develop principal and final engineering solutions
* Design Tools: Utilise tools to aid manufacturing and ensure product quality
* Design Information: Provide complete and detailed design information
* Site Measuring: Measure existing equipment for retrofitting Redler designs
CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS
* Proficiency in 3D CAD systems, notably 3D Inventor Engineering, 2D AutoCAD, and Vault
* Experience in bulk materials handling
* Knowledge of Bills of Material and ERP systems
* Minimum HND or equivalent engineering qualification
* Strong mechanical design experience
