The Finance Directorate is responsible for over £400M of income and expenditure annually, represented by more than 150,000 transactions annually, with around 7,500 staff and students having access to our Finance systems to initiate, review and approve financial transactions and reports.
Reporting to the Finance Systems Manager you will be based within the Finance Accounting Services team. You will work closely with senior colleagues in Finance, IS Business Systems and in other Professional Services and Academic departments to ensure coordinated, timely and appropriate delivery of all the University’s systems accounting requirements. The Systems Accountant will work with the existing team to support projects and other aspects of financial reporting and forecasting. Current projects include the migration of the University’s Financial Management System (FMS) to a Cloud-based Software as a Service (SAAS) model and implementation of a new HR/Payroll system.
The role is key in ensuring that the University’s financial systems and processes provide financial and management reports which efficiently meet the needs of key stakeholders. You should be educated to degree level, ideally with membership of a recognised accounting professional body and have extensive post-qualification experience. A strong accounting background in a large, complex organisation with extensive financial systems experience is essential. Enthusiasm, commitment, and strong collaborative interpersonal skills coupled with a high level of problem-solving and decision making will make the role a success.
