The H. Lavity Stoutt Community College, located in the British Virgin Islands (“the BVI”) is seeking an exceptional full-time History Lecture to teach in the Humanities, Social Sciences and Communications Department. The Lecturer must be able to comfortably instruct in at least four (4) of the listed courses and have a deep understanding of the subject matter. Courses: .Caribbean History\ .Western Civilization .World Civilization Introduction to Africa/ African History Duties and Responsibilities Perform instructional related responsibilities in a timely manner and in accordance with the mission, vision, policies and procedures of the College; Provide a quality learning experience for all students; Teach five courses (15-17 credit hours) per semester; Teach day, evening, weekend and/or online courses at assigned campus/centre. May be assigned to teach courses at more than one location; Serve as an academic advisor to students Assist in the marketing of the Department's programmes and recruitment of students; Actively participate in Department or College Committees. Qualifications and Experience An earned doctoral degree in relevant discipline from an accredited or recognized institution, and a minimum of four (4) years of teaching or other academic experience with evidence of continuing scholarship. OR A master’s degree or its equivalent in relevant discipline from an accredited or recognized institution and seven (7) years of successful teaching or other academic experience as a Lecturer, and evidence of continuing scholarship. Key Competencies Communication Skills: strong verbal and written communication. Must have an ability to convey ideas clearly and effectively to all levels of audience. He/She must be able to plan and conduct Professional Development Workshops at all levels in the education system. Mentorship and Coaching: must have the ability to mentor and guide future teachers in their professional development. Technological Proficiency: familiarity with educational technology and digital tools to enhance learning and must have competence in delivering instructions in both in-person and the virtual environment. Leadership and Advocacy: skills in working collaboratively with colleagues and educational institutions. Must be a visionary leader.
