Are you passionate about working with children and families, functional outcomes for children, enabling education staff and parents? If so, we are delighted to offer this opportunity to join our children's community service.
This is a community post across the large city of Birmingham, with a caseload of children and young people with neurological and developmental conditions. The work will primarily involve a combination of working at Brays Special School and clinic-based assessments, delivering intervention in the form of Packages of Care. The post holder will work closely with the child, family, and other professionals involved in their care. Candidates will also have responsibility for supervision of designated staff.
Main duties of the job
1. To manage a defined caseload of children with a variety of conditions, including neurological disabilities, functional difficulties, and neuromuscular difficulties.
2. To be responsible for the assessment and ongoing therapeutic management of children in community and special school settings, which may include designated schools, nurseries, and community clinics.
3. To competently assess and deliver PT programmes to children in the service and be accountable for their own clinical work as well as to their nominated supervisor.
4. To carry out assessments independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
5. To provide advice and guidance for families, carers, and the multidisciplinary team, including Health, Education, and Social Care staff.
6. To participate actively in the Physiotherapy service by engaging in team and service-based initiatives and activities.

Job Description
Job responsibilities
1. To be responsible for a clinical caseload within the special school and monitor own workload/treatment methods to maintain high professional standards.
2. To advise the Professional Lead for Physiotherapist/Clinical Service Manager of related issues as appropriate.
3. To be professionally accountable and responsible for all aspects of own work, including the management of children on the caseload.
4. To assess and reassess the needs of the child, analysing and interpreting the information gathered to contribute to the diagnosis and formulate a treatment plan.
5. To provide care plans to meet goals and evaluate the effectiveness of interventions using appropriate outcome measures and make any necessary modifications.
6. To develop intervention packages to be delivered as one-to-one sessions either by the physiotherapist or physiotherapy assistant.
7. To supervise PT students on practice placement.
Person Specification
Experience
* Relevant experience in a physiotherapy setting.
* Evidence of application of the PT process during practice placement in paediatrics and/or neurology and/or community.
Skills / Knowledge
* Demonstrates passion for working with children.
* Ability to communicate verbally in a manner appropriate to various parties.
* Ability to generate written communication that is relevant, concise, accurate, and legible.
* Demonstrates awareness of and sensitivity to the needs of individuals from minority groups.
* Knowledge of normal development and its application in assessment and treatment.
* Proven ability to liaise and work with other professionals and agencies.
* Awareness of recent clinical developments and professional issues.
Personal Qualities
* Ability to demonstrate a commitment to multi-disciplinary team working.
* Ability to be flexible and participate in a changing NHS environment.
* Self-motivation and initiative when working independently and in various situations.
Other Job Requirements
* Ability to travel to various work locations.
Qualifications
* Diploma/degree in Physiotherapy.
* Registered Physiotherapist or current student who has applied with the Health and Care Professions Council.
