As part of our drive to improve services for vulnerable children and young people within the borough, we have established over the last 10 years an innovative and exciting multi-agency team called the Early Intervention team who support Bexley schools. The team includes Educational Psychologists, Social, Emotional and Mental Health Partners, SEN strategic support partners, as well as an Early Intervention Social Worker. About the Role The focus of the EIT Social Worker is on early intervention, seeking to provide support to children, young people and their families, who require additional help to achieve successful outcomes in school, but whose needs are not severe enough for them to meet the criteria for higher threshold social care services. We are looking to appoint an experienced and knowledgeable Social Worker to join our team. This position would not be suitable for newly qualified social workers. This role has five main elements: - Enabling schools to have access to professional social care advice, input and support. To hold some cases – at an early intervention level 2 of the supportive effective guidance in Bexley, to provide support to families to improve the educational chances and wellbeing of children and young people. To promote the social and emotional welfare of children based in these schools though a range of activities with families and children. Training for schools and families relating to safeguarding and well-being issues based on the Signs of Safety framework. Delivery the Incredible year programme as part of our Safety Valve project. Candidate Profile The successful candidate will need a good working knowledge of social care practice and procedures particularly around early intervention, and to have excellent assessment skills.
