The Opportunity
Horizons College is an innovative and inclusive specialist provision for young people aged 16-25 with learning difficulties and/or complex needs. Having opened our brand new college at the Interface Business Park in Royal Wootton Bassett in September 2022 we are ready to welcome a Senior Learning Support Assistants to provide a safe, stimulating, learner-centred environment; equipping our learners to be independent by developing life and work skills ready for life after college and their transition to adulthood.
This exciting opportunity would be suited to someone who has a clear understanding of the core processes for the management of special educational needs with specific experience of working closely with a Tutor to plan, manage and evaluate the provision and progress of learners with Education Health and Care Plans (EHCPs), High Needs and Medical needs.

Your Role
As a Senior Learning Support Assistant the attached job description will detail your role in full. But at a glance, some of the key fields you will be responsible for include (but are not limited to):
Under the direction of the Tutor/Lecturer, provide support and assistance in the development and education of our learners
Undertake tasks related to the Learning setting and outside activities such as work placements and provide basic supervision and care skills
Regular mandatory training to be undertaken to safeguard and promote the welfare of our learners at the College and other premises
The postholder will be trained for, and then provide personal care, which could include toileting, feeding, manual handling and medical procedures
In the absence of the Tutor the post holder will be required to deliver prepared and planned lessons
Your Experience
Our Learning Support Assistant person specification attached will contain the full areas of skills and experience, but it is really important to us that you feel comfortable and confident in your role, so although you may not have everything desirable, there are some essential features our appointee will need to have and these include:
HLTA qualification, NVQ level 3 or extensive experience supporting in a learning environment
A-C minimum in GCSE Maths and English
Successful track record of supporting learners across age and ability range
Proven track record of supporting the raising of learner standards and attainment
Successful track record of supporting learners in Maths and/or English
Sufficient knowledge and understanding of the curriculum offer in order to work effectively as part of a professional team.
Evidence of progress of consistent and effective use of a range of appropriate strategies to enable learner progress.
Training: It is important to us to ensure you feel valued and supported in this exciting, rewarding and important role that you undertake therefore, relative training will be provided to the appointed applicant upon starting.
