Maintenance Engineer - Lichfield, Night Shift - Permanent

Key Details:
- Salary: Basic of £31,117.93 plus shift premium - Nights Shift Premium £7,779.48 per annum, total- £38,897.41
- Contract Type: Permanent, Working Pattern: Full Time
- Working hours: 40 hours per week on either three shift rotation or Night Shift only:
* Afternoon Shift: 2.00pm to 10.30pm Monday to Thursday, 11.00am to 5.00pm Friday
* Morning Shift: 6.00am to 2.30pm Monday to Thursday, 6.00am to 12.00noon Friday
* Night Shift: 10.00pm to 6.30am Monday to Thursday, 4.30pm to 10.30pm Friday
Your mission:
As a Maintenance Engineer, your mission will be to repair, adjust, and maintain production equipment, machinery, or instruments to ensure they function reliably and comply with high Environmental, Health, and Safety Standards.
Your responsibilities:
* Respond to break-downs and other operating problems and complete planned maintenance activities to minimise disruptions to manufacturing processes:
o Attend machines to assess planned maintenance activities and diagnose breakdowns
o Establish a safe working area
o Communicate with machine operators to attain information relating to the deviations
o Assess the need to isolate
o Advise production supervisors of expected duration of work if possible
o Undertake appropriate repairs to machinery
o Instruct machine operators to test machinery on completion of maintenance activity
o Maintain tools and repair equipment to ensure good working order
* Maintain detailed maintenance records so that Health and Safety is ensured and recurring problems with machinery, equipment or parts can be identified and addressed:
o Complete work order documents with the relevant information relating to the required maintenance activity
o Complete take 2s and raise permits to work when the need to isolate occurs
o Sign off permits when reengaging power
o Liaise with machine operators to sign off completed work orders
o Capture all maintenance activities in relevant recording system
o Complete appropriate audits on maintenance equipment
o Feedback to the relevant individuals on proposed improvements to machinery, operator competence and/or any other relevant information
* Set, calibrate or adjust equipment, machinery and instruments so that it complies with production specifications or instructions:
o Measure product lengths and angles
o Identify opportunities to maximise product utilisation within British Standards
o Respond to observations from machine operators on product calibration
o Input corrections into operating system
o Recheck product for new calibration changes
Technical competencies:
* Production Services (e.g., Cranes)
* Bar Production (e.g., Shear Lines)
* Power Bending (e.g., manual and automatic Benders)
* Coil Production (e.g., straightening and decoiling machines)
* Threading & Coupling (e.g., Lenton and Dextra)
Required qualifications:
* Candidates will ideally possess relevant qualifications i.e. City & Guilds etc
* Candidates with a bias toward either mechanical or electrical disciplines will be considered.
