Positive Behavioural Specialist
You must live in the UK and have the Right to Work in the UK. SeeAbility is unable to support any sponsorship requests.
Location: Birchington-on-Sea, Kent
1. Salary: £12.00 - £13.40 per hour (£24,765 per annum) pro-rata plus benefits. Sleep-ins are paid additionally at £50 per sleep.
2. Hours: Up to 37.5 hours per week.
3. Shifts: 7.30am to 10.00pm, 7.5-hour shifts, this time may vary depending on the person you are supporting planned activities, Monday to Sunday on a shift rota basis.
4. Employment type: Full-time or Part-time, Permanent or Casual.
You must hold a UK Driving licence to apply for this role.

The role of Positive Behavioural Specialist
We are on the lookout for Positive Behavioural Specialist who are calm, patient, and resilient. You will be a driver and have a consistent approach to assisting the people we support to engage in the interests they love.
Furthermore, as Positive Behavioural Specialist you will be responsible for:
5. Can you deliver support in a non-traditional way, working alongside the person we support, doing things with them, rather than for them.
6. Can you work alongside the person, giving them options for their support, whilst giving them the space they need.
7. Daily support in areas such as laundry; meal preparation; medication and administration.
8. Getting to know the person you will support, being forward thinking to support them in their life choices.
9. Taking personal responsibility for the quality of support, with an ability to be solution driven when dealing with daily life challenges.
10. Safeguarding, whilst supporting positive risk tasking and promoting the welfare of the person you will support.
11. Helping the people you will assist plan towards and achieve both short and long term aims.
12. Planning and be in favour of activities, such as vacations, learning and social engagements always being creative and exploring new opportunities
13. Assisting the people, you will assist to manage their personal affairs making, preparing for, and attending any appointments and supporting with finances and budget planning.
14. Ensuring the person, you will assist and their families, are treated with respect, dignity, and equality.

We are looking for the people with attitude, who has an open mind, forward-thinking and a sense of humour. Hours are negotiable up to 37.5 per week. You will be willing to work on a shift rota basis, covering mornings, evenings, and weekends. Over-time shifts will be available.

Who will you be supporting?
I am a young man who you will be supporting in my own home. I am caring, loving, interesting and have a wicked sense of humour. I enjoy lots of different things including spending time with my pets including my snake, tarantula and other reptiles and insects. PS4, watching horror films and my big passions collecting fossils, animal skulls, precious and semi-precious stones, and Lego, going for long walks on beaches and woods.
I have autism and can get anxious at times which leads me to be angry &frustrated with the people around me. I have had some terrible experiences in the past with the people supporting me. This has let me down, so it may take along time for me to be sure about you. But when I do, we will have so much fun.
I need people to help me who are kind, caring, have a sense of humour. You will need to be consistent and compassionate. When I am anxious you will need to becalm, and after a tough day, step into the next holding no grudges. Willing to work along-side and with me, giving me options and choices, and not telling me what to do!
It is essential that you can drive, and you must be willing to work as a team. You will work with me and my family and importantly you must like the things I like, especially animals.
Responsibilities
16. Providing direct support when displaying behaviours to enable them to participate in a wide range of activities.
17. Ensure good working practice including understanding and awareness of health and safety.
18. To promote independence and develop skills whilst assisting with all tasks necessary to ensure positive life experiences.
19. To work positively with other agencies, parents, carers, and other services to ensure person-centred support.
20. Develop and contribute to the maintenance of records and support plans and function as a Keyworker when required.
21. To support and maintain a clean-living environment appropriate to meet his individual needs.
22. To participate in regular and ongoing training relevant to needs.
