Job Title: Attendance Officer

Monarch Education is currently seeking a dedicated and experienced Attendance Officer to join a reputable school in Birmingham on a full-time basis. This is a fantastic opportunity for an individual with a passion for supporting student welfare and ensuring high levels of attendance across the school.
As the Attendance Officer, you will be responsible for managing and monitoring student attendance, working closely with staff, students, and parents to ensure that attendance standards are met and that any issues are addressed in a timely manner.
Key Responsibilities:
Monitor and record student attendance, ensuring all data is accurate and up to date.
Work closely with teachers and pastoral staff to track attendance trends and identify patterns of concern.
Contact parents to follow up on absences, ensuring communication is clear and effective.
Support the development and implementation of attendance policies and procedures.
Generate and analyse attendance reports, providing regular updates to senior leadership and school governors.
Assist in the coordination of attendance-related meetings and implement strategies to improve attendance rates.
Work with students and families to address barriers to attendance, offering appropriate guidance and support.
Liaise with external agencies, including local authorities and support services, to provide the necessary interventions for students with low attendance.
Ensure that all attendance data complies with statutory regulations and safeguarding policies.
Contribute to the wellbeing and safeguarding of students by identifying students at risk of disengaging and escalating as necessary.
Requirements:
Proven experience as an Attendance Officer or in a similar role within a school setting.
Strong understanding of attendance policies, regulations, and reporting requirements.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage with students, parents, and colleagues.
Experience in handling sensitive information confidentially and in line with data protection policies.
Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
Ability to analyse data and produce clear, concise reports.
A proactive approach to solving problems and addressing attendance-related challenges.
