Main duties:
* Prepare the Operating Room (OR): Set up surgical instruments, equipment, and sterile field for joint surgeries (hip, knee, shoulder, etc.).
* Sterilize Instruments: Ensure all surgical instruments and tools are sterilized and organized.
* Assist Surgeons During Procedures: Hand instruments, sutures, and materials to the surgeon throughout the surgery.
* Maintain Sterile Field: Ensure the sterile field is maintained and prevent contamination.
* Monitor Supplies: Keep track of surgical supplies and replenish as needed during the procedure.
* Prepare Implants: Assist in preparing and handling joint implants or prosthetics.
* Instrument Count: Perform pre- and post-surgery instrument and sponge counts to ensure none are left inside the patient.
* Assist in Positioning Patients: Help position patients appropriately for joint surgeries to ensure safety and accessibility.
* Support Post-Surgery Cleanup: Clean and prepare the OR for the next procedure following surgery.
* Communicate with Surgical Team: Ensure effective communication between surgical team members to facilitate smooth operations.
Requirements for the Orthopaedic Scrub role:
* Registered Nurse (RN) or Operating Department Practitioner (ODP) with a valid registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) or Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
* Recent nursing experience in the UK.
* Proven experience working in a scrub role within a theatre environment.
* Experience in a variety of surgical procedures and specialities.
