WeAreInnovaCare Our practices offer: Women’s Health, Wellness, X-Ray/Ultrasound, Dental, Chiropractic, Urgent Care, Managed Care, and Workers Comp services Job Summary The Front Office Medical Assistant is required to satisfy both patient care coordinator and medical assistant responsibilities. Essential Job Functions Answer telephone, and screen and direct calls. Follow-up with calls to reassure patients, physicians, and other staff members that their needs have been met. Assist scheduling patients. Obtain patient information and/or confirm coverage with insurance provider prior to scheduling appointments or procedures. Record patient care documentation in the medical record accurately and in a timely manner. Identifies when others’ documentation is incorrect and alerts clinic leadership. Prepare room assignments for patients and physicians according to policies and procedures. Assure rooms are ready when needed by completing room-scheduling checklist, turning on lights, adjusting temperature controls, straightening furniture for comfort of patients, and reviewing supplies needed for procedure. Keep the front office organized and give it full attention. Register/verify patient demographic information (patients who have not been seen within the past 12 months must complete a new registration form) Create appointment; determine reason for visit; verify benefits and eligibility Collection of co-pays Address outstanding account balance and collect monies due Schedule follow-up appointment per Provider instructions; comply with scheduling protocols Schedule testing for outside facilities and secure referral; document in the chart Adhere to Prescription Protocol when providing prescriptions to patients Operate diagnostic equipment (cannot interpret tests), remove staples from superficial wounds; change wound dressing and obtains cultures; administer non intravenous medication; perform simple specimen collection via noninvasive techniques; collects blood specimens via venipuncture or via capillary and performs EKGs. Perform X-rays, where applicable Assist with scribing, where applicable Assist Case Manager with procedures. Perform quality control checks on equipment. Prepare and sterilize medical equipment using the autoclave. Foster accountability for clinical practice and patient goals. Enforce medication policy. Support and follows Standard Delegation of Orders Support emergency management protocols & procedures. Perform all other related duties as assigned. Minimum Required Education, Experience & Skills High school diploma or GED equivalent. Maintain confidentiality. Communication skills Speak accurately, clearly and with a pleasant voice at all times. Experience in customer service, answering telephones, data entry, and/or front-desk responsibilities. Knowledge of medical terminology. Proficient with Microsoft Office. Etiquette and organizational skills. Able to work under pressure and high stress situations. Physical & Mental Requirements: (check all that apply) ☐ Required immunizations and vaccinations.
