Are you a detail-oriented finance professional with a passion for credit management? We are looking for an experienced Credit Controller to join our team and play a key role in managing our credit and collections process.
About the Role
As a Credit Controller, you will be responsible for ensuring timely customer payments while minimising financial risk. You’ll assess credit applications, set credit limits, monitor outstanding debts, and take action to recover overdue payments. Working closely with finance and sales teams, you'll maintain strong customer relationships and ensure compliance with company policies.
This is a full-time role based at our offices in Rushden, Northamptonshire. You will work within our established Finance Team to provide an outstanding service to our UK divisions.
Key Responsibilities
* Monitor customer accounts to ensure timely payments and adherence to credit terms.
* Assess and approve new credit applications, setting appropriate credit limits.
* Chase outstanding invoices via phone, email, and written correspondence.
* Investigate and resolve payment discrepancies or disputes.
* Maintain accurate records of communications and transactions.
* Prepare reports on debtor balances, overdue accounts, and credit risks.
* Collaborate with sales and finance teams to manage credit risks.
* Build and maintain strong customer relationships.
* Implement and enforce credit policies to improve cash flow.
* Escalate problematic accounts to legal or debt collection agencies when necessary.
* Stay updated on industry regulations and best practices in credit management.
What We’re Looking For
* Previous experience in credit control, accounts receivable, or finance.
* Strong negotiation and communication skills.
* Ability to manage multiple accounts and meet deadlines.
* Proficiency in financial software and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word).
* Knowledge of credit management regulations and best practices.
* A proactive and problem-solving mindset.
