University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust is delighted to offer a fantastic opportunity to work with us.
Please see below for detailed job description of the role.
University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust (UHS) is seeking a full-time Operational Manager to join us on a permanent basis.
We are looking for an exceptional candidate as this is a busy role and the appointed person will need to assimilate a lot of information and activity quickly (we would sugar-coat it a little bit, but it is true)! You need to be a motivated and energetic individual with experience of service management and the day-to-day operational pressures of a busy care group.
Cardiovascular and Thoracic (CV&T) is a large and busy care group with a core workforce of 900 talented individuals delivering in excess of 87,000 outpatient episodes and over 10,000 inpatient admissions each year. Given the complexity and volume of our work, we are recruiting an Operational Manager to join our management team.
As one of the largest acute teaching Trusts in England, we offer learning and development opportunities to help you achieve the career you aspire to.
Due to the nature of this role and service, this role is on-site and the hours are as advertised.
Please talk to us at interview about the flexibility you need, and we will explore what’s possible for the role and service. UHS employees are able to access a range of NHS discounts, are entitled to a minimum of 35 days paid holiday (pro rata), and we offer a generous pension scheme.
Southampton is an attractive place to live and work situated on the south coast, with an international airport and direct trains to London. The New Forest National Park and beaches of the Jurassic coast are also right on our doorstep. The city offers living costs 20% lower than London and 14 schools rated outstanding by Ofsted.
This role is open to clinical and non-clinical staff with a strong understanding of operational pressures, experience of managing day to day activity and a working level of competence with hospital and office software/systems.
We would like you to have the ability to anticipate issues, problem solve in real time and be able to engage a lot of people in a complex system. If you can do all this whilst keeping our patients at the heart of the plan then we want to hear from you.
The role works with colleagues both within CV&T and across other teams in the trust; transformation, site office, theatres and anaesthetics to name a few. You will also need to represent the care group and trust at external meetings with regional and national partners.
