Post Surgical Rehab Team
Are you an experienced Band 6 or current Band 7 with a wide range of clinical experience across multiple specialties? If so, this exciting opportunity could be for you. The main caseload will cover post surgical urology and gynaecology patients across HDU and wards. You will also be required to treat respiratory patients, including those who are deteriorating so these skills are essential. For this new role, we are looking for someone who is passionate about transforming and developing services. You must be an effective communicator as you will be required to work closely with the MDT and therapy service to lead and evolve the service. There will be opportunities to collaborate with the MDT and participate in quality improvement projects. As the Clinical Specialist, you will be responsible for the supervision and development of the staff within the team, including teaching, 1:1s and appraisals. You will be pivotal in ensuring members in the MDT are also upskilled to support the patient cohort. You will be based at the Leicester General Hospital and will be required to work weekends, on-calls, and bank holidays. Interviews will be face to face.
Main duties of the job
* To be responsible for the assessment and treatment of complex adult urology, respiratory, gynaecology, and medical patients including those on HDU using enhanced clinical decision-making skills.
* Provide clinical and professional leadership to Physiotherapy (PT) colleagues in the specialty area.
* Work as an autonomous practitioner to provide specialist therapy assessments, diagnose, and develop individualized treatment programmes based on the patients' needs, using advanced clinical reasoning skills.
* To be responsible for a clinical caseload which will include complex cases within their area of specialty.
* Be responsible for the day-to-day management of the delivery of Physiotherapy by the team in an efficient and effective way within a fast and pressurized environment.
* Participate in the planning, development, and evaluation of Physiotherapy within the Specialist Team holding responsibility for defined projects.
* Ensure the training and development of staff within the Therapy specialty Team.
* Liaise with colleagues and work across site/cross specialty if appropriate in order to ensure the provision of a seamless equitable service.
* Assist and support the Therapy management team and Therapy Specialty Leads and Therapy Clinical Team Leaders within the service in the improvement and transformation of Therapy services.

* As a lead clinician for this specialty, the post holder will establish and maintain good and effective working relationships with colleagues both within and outside UHL to improve patient care.
* To promote and maintain high professional standards of verbal, written and non-verbal communication, including complex and sensitive information relating to patients for self and staff for whom responsible.
* To take responsibility within the team for team member attendance at case conferences, ward meetings, and multidisciplinary professional meetings.
* To ensure patients and carers are given appropriate and timely information and advice enabling them to make informed decisions about their care and discharge.
* Liaise with the Therapy Specialty Lead and Therapy Clinical Team Leaders about potential changes to clinical practice within the specialty.
* Promote an understanding of the profession and contribute to the sharing of learning across professional and organizational boundaries.

* Significant recent post-graduate clinical experience in the specialist area of respiratory.
* Evidence of experience of managing and leading a team.
* Evidence of experience in teaching the MDT.

* Significant recent post-graduate clinical experience in the specialist areas of urology, medicine, and gynaecology.
* Experience of audit/clinical evaluation/outcome measures.
