Job Description: To administer stress tests and interpret results. To explain procedure to patient. To monitor patient throughout the process. Responsibilities: - Sets up and checks equipment for electrocardiograms (EKG) and stress testing (GXT). Administers tests according to established procedures and as ordered by a physician. Thoroughly explains procedure. Monitors patient throughout the test. - Interviews patient to obtain and record vital statistics and medical history. Collects and analyzes pre and post exercise electrocardiograms. Explains program test procedures to patients, for whom services are appropriate, in a manner which gains cooperation and reduces anxiety. - Performs testing in a manner that ensures quality, interpretable results. Records and calculates all necessary parameters. Interprets tracings for diagnostic purposes. Records/edits/documents all testing according to departmental standards. - Ensures physical environment and equipment is ready daily. Demonstrates knowledge of all equipment used for testing. - Transmits and/or delivers EKG tests and Holter monitor reports within departmental guidelines. - Supports the quality and fiscal goals of the department and institution. Demonstrates exercises to patients to ensure proper form, technique and safety. - Performs lab office work daily to properly close all completed requested procedures. - Performs other duties as assigned. Bachelor's degree in Exercise Science or Athletic Training. Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement. Currently certified with Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association (AHA) required.
