We are seeking a skilled Design Engineer to support new product developments and special projects in collaboration with Laboratory and Industrialisation teams.
This is a fantastic opportunity to apply your expertise of Mechanical Engineering within the Electrical Engineering sector and contribute to innovative solutions.
Once embedded within the business, this opportunity offers the flexibility of hybrid working with up to three days per week working from home.
Design Engineer Key Responsibilities:
1. Lead the design and development of Engineering projects, ensuring alignment with departmental objectives.
2. Apply DFx principles (Cost, Manufacture, Assembly, Test) to enhance product development.
3. Oversee internal and external testing with the Laboratories team.
4. Collaborate with engineering teams to resolve product issues and improve customer satisfaction.
5. Maintain accurate documentation, including design files and Bill of Materials (BOM).
6. Drive continuous improvement initiatives to optimise product quality and cost efficiency.
Essential Qualifications & Skills:
1. HNC in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (or similar).
2. Proficiency in 3D CAD software.
3. Experience in Mechanical product design and strong understanding of engineering drawings.
4. Experience of designing mechanisms, not just fixed components.
5. Technical expertise in material strengths and engineering processes to facilitate effective design for manufacturing.
6. Confident user of PDM / PLM tools and understanding of BOM and change control.
7. Familiarity with relevant IEC standards.
8. UK rights to work (sponsorship cannot be provided).
